Administrative Assistant – Birch Cove Baptist Church September 2020

Birch Cove Baptist Church is seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant.  This position is an important and essential component of ministry for this congregation and its leadership.  We are prayerfully seeking an applicant who is personally committed to and supportive of the mission of the church.  We have been blessed in the past with gifted service in this ministry and trust the Lord will call the right person to this position for His glory and the strengthening of His Church.

Education & Experience

Ideally, the successful candidate will have some training and experience in the administrative field.

Familiarity with computer skills (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Movie Maker, Outlook)), Windows 10, Social media (church web site, Facebook), Gmail

Weekly Hours

This is a part-time position with some flexibility in scheduling

General (Job summary)

The position of Administrative assistant includes working with the leadership of the church and the congregation to facilitate effective ministry.

  • Responsible for providing administrative support to Pastoral staff, boards and committees
  • Communications, such as receiving & responding to enquiries and receptionist duties
  • Facility bookings and maintaining databases



  • clerical and logistical support for the pastoral staff
  • receive and respond to telephone and email inquiries, book appointments
  • interact with community organizations and renters
  • receptionist duties
  • facilitation of congregational communications

Document preparation & management

  • prepare weekly bulletin, annual business report, congregational letters, telephone directories, correspondence and mail-outs
  • filing, copying & retrieving documents
  • receiving and routing documents & mail
  • maintaining membership information databases


  • facility booking and maintaining calendar
  • maintenance of office equipment (copier, printers/fax)
  • purchasing office and church service supplies

Other duties as required
